She is a popular Bangladeshi film director and actress. She is a paramount film actress within the country. Bobita was a number one female histrion during nineteen seventies and eighties. She acted in more than two hundred and fifty movies in her career.

Once liberation war of bd, Bobita was the dream lady to university students. She won the National Film Award in consecutive 3 years for her superb acting performance.

Early Life of Bobita


She was born on April Twenty, 1948 in Bagerhat to B. J. Ara and Nizamuddin Ataub. Bobita’s mother B. J. Ara was a doctor and father Nizamuddin was government worker. She was born in a educated family and Bobita grew up within the district due to her father.

Jessore is her paternal home district. Bobita was born with 5 siblings where her younger sister Champa and elder sister Shuchanda are also actress of bangladesh. Famous director Zahir Raihan was brother-in-law, Riaz is cousin, Omar Sunny is her nephew and Moushumi is niece in law. Because of sister Shuchanda’s acting career, the family moved to dhaka from Bagerhat.

Her mother was a doctor, so Bobita wished to be a doctor. She studied at Jessore Dawood Public School. Bobita could not continue her study due to engagement with the movie industry. She created herself educated by own effort without formal education.

Career of Bobita


Bobita comes to the movie industry by inspired from her elder sister. She created her debut in the film industry with the film Sangsar where she acted as a child artist and directed by Zahir Raihan. In the film, she starred as the daughter of pair Shuchanda and Razzak.

She acted in a tv drama Kalom and got appreciation from the critics. She created debut as heroine in the movie industry with the film Jaltey Suraj ka Nichey in 1969. The film released on August Fourteen in this year on that day her mother died. Later with the help of the brother in law, she came to the media industry.

She runs the long way own effort and proved her acting capability widely in the movie industry. In 1973, Bobita comes to the timeline around the subcontinent once she acted in the film Ashani Sanket directed by Satyajit Ray. The film created a fierce stir within the box office and the actress got positive acclamation from the audience and critics.

The film won the Golden Bear Prize at the Berlin film festival. In 1978, she appeared in the film Golapi Ekhon Trainey, directed by Amjad Hossain. In 1986, she acted in the film Dahan directed by Sheikh Niamat Ali. In 1972, she acted within the movie Agnishakkhi.

Bobita starred within the famous film Dipu Number Two, in 1996 . Bobita launched an own production house called Bobita Movies. The production house produce many common movies including Lottery, Agomon and Ful Shojja.

Personal Life of Bobita


She married Iftekhar and the couple has a son named Anik who studied in canada, so she often visits canada. Her husband died once their son was only 3 years old.
